Map on going to Mount Osdung, Kibungan, Benguet |
If you are planning to hike Mount Osdung in Kibungan, Benguet, you can
follow what we did to reach the summit (provided here are some maps):
If you are coming from Manila, take a bus bound to Baguio. From the
terminal (Victory Liner or Genesis) ride a cab and tell the driver to take you
to the GL Trans or Lizardo Trans or Dangwa Terminal (if you do not remember any
of these just tell the driver to take you to the bus terminal bound for Sagada
or Bontoc). Baguio to Manila is around 5.5 hours (or less) and the cab ride to
the GL terminal is about 10-15 minutes.
Terminal of buses bound to Sagada |
Pay and get your ticket at the booth. Regular fare to Collideng Junction
is P96 (as of October 2012). Travel time is approximately 3 hours with a bus
stop at around 2 hours after departure. There you can eat breakfast so you have
more energy to reach the summit.
You have to be aware that the first trip of GL bound to Sagada leaves at
6:30 AM (the ticket booth opens 5 AM or earlier) and follows an hourly interval.
If you plan to leave Baguio at this time, then expect to arrive at the junction
at around 9:30 AM.
From Collindeng Junction (marker is the yellow Traders Café) facing the
café, take the road at the left side, with sign going to Madaymen (or Cagam-is).
That is the start of the walk to trail. Large part of it is unpaved.

You must be able to reach the municipal branch of Kibungan, Benguet (red
building) walk straight and when you reach another main intersection, turn
left. Walk until you see another sign going to Madaymen or Cagam-is. Take the
Cagam-is direction.
You must be able to reach the summit in a few minutes. If you feel like
you are lost already, do not hesitate to ask the locals. For sure they know it.
Just tell them Mt. Osdung in Cagam-is.
On going back, walk (or top load) to the Collideng Junction, wait for a
bus bound to Baguio. Fare is also P96.
