How to Go to Subic Attractions from Manila:
  • Ride a bus bound to Olongapo. Drop at the terminal in Olongapo.
  • To go to your hotel:
  1. Hire a tricycle to your transient/hotel/resort for P10 per head. Do not let the trike driver fool you. Some of them will make the route longer and request additional payment.
  2. Walk a bit until you are already around the roundabout or intersection of the streets and main road. Wait a jeepney along Rizal Avenue. If your hotel is located along Magsaysay Drive (or Avenue) or Rizal Avenue, ride a yellow one. Fare not more than P10 (P8 I guess).
  3. Try to hail a taxi to your hotel/resort. Taxis in Olongapo look like private cars. It is more expensive though.
  4. If your hotel/resort is located along Waterfront Rd/Dewey Ave. in SBMA, try to ride a jeepney bound to SBMA Maingate (I guess the yellow one) then hire a taxi to your hotel. Note that neither trikes nor jeepneys are allowed inside SBMA.
  5. When one wants to go back to Victory Liner Bus Terminal from Magsaysay Drive, catch a yellow jeep and drop at the roundabout. Walk a bit to the terminal.
  6. If you are along Magsaysay Drive, Saulog/Genesis Bus Terminal is somewhere near at the back of SM City Olongapo. Just a walk a bit to SM and cross the street along Gordon & East 16th Avenue.
  7. Note: Olongapo Hotels are far CHEAPER than hotels located inside SBMA.
  • To go to Subic attractions:
  1. If you are already in Magsaysay, inquire a traffic enforcer or just any local where you can hire a taxi for your trip. As in our case, we were helped by the hotel staff.
  2. Regular fixed one way fare to any of the Subic attractions like Zoobic Safari, Ocean Adventure or Tree Top Adventure at P400 (as of October 2011, rate might have increased now). Double it for a round trip fare. You can negotiate with the driver if you want to visit all the three destinations. Be sure to ask if he will bring you back to the terminal, because tourists will only be brought to the main gate where you can already ride a jeepney to the terminal.
  3. Piece of advice: Do not leave valuable things inside the van. The simple thought there is, you don’t trust strangers, do you?

How to Go to Subic Attractions from Baguio:
  • Ride a Victory Liner Bus bound to Olongapo. To go to your hotel or Subic attractions, read suggestions under “How to Go to Subic Attractions from Manila”.

How to Go to Subic Attractions from Clark:
  • From DMIA, ride a shuttle bus that goes to Dau Terminal. From Dau, ride a bus bound to Olongapo. Loading area at the back part of the terminal, just facing the entrance to the terminal.
  • To go to your hotel or Subic attractions, read suggestions under “How to Go to Subic Attractions from Manila”.

  1. thank you very much for the info. clarify ko lang po if yung 467 na rent for van is buong van na yung group na kayo. Oh pinaghatian nyo na po yan? Ask ko lang din kng how much ngrarange ang taxi from magsaysay to tree top? we'll be going here this week po kasi and commuters lang kmi :)

    1. Hello. P467 was our individual payment for it since we were 3. The total fee for the van was P1,400. It was supposed to be just P1000 (round trip with side trip at duty free shop) but we hired the van from Olongapo to Olongapo to the bus terminal near Gapo.

Di ko na sure magkano ngayon pero from Magsaysay to Tree Top kung one-way lang siguro from 400-600 pesos. :)

  2. another thing po. we'll be staying din po kasi sa ridge crest hotel, ang ppntahan po namin ay zoobic safari at tree top.. is it a trike away lng daw po ang ridge crest sa zoobic? saka kng pde nyo po ako mabgyan ng advice sa ppntang tree top. Thank you very much in advance! First time lang po namin mag out of town at ng nagcocommute. 2 alng po kc kmi e. thanks po and God bless you :)

    1. Ah sadly it's not a trike away. In the first place, there are NO TRIKES (tricycles) allowed inside SBMA. Besides Zoobic Safari is a bit far from Tree Top, kindly refer to the maps I posted on one part of the series.

Advice ko you negotiate with the taxi/van driver you will hire for the whole tour. Pwede nyo iinclude ang Ocean Adventure or trekking or Camayan Beach. One day tour kasi if you hire a taxi in Olongapo.

Advice sa tree top: just do it! Mas mataas ang Tree Top Adventure Subic kaysa Tree Top Adventure Baguio kaya mas-exciting ang zipline nila! Hehe. Good luck sa trip! I'm sure it would be fun for sure! :)

  3. hello good morning. first time ko papunta sa subic with my family,, i am planning a saturday to sunday trip overnight sa subic. i am from batangas and not familiar sa pinaka dabest way to subic,, san ba ako dapat mag exit? sa san fernando ba or sa dau? what are places we could visit so that we could maximize our two day and 1 night stay? any transient house or beach resort na economical where we could stay over sa gabi.

thanks a lot in advance for your valuable inputs. regards

    1. Hello. About sa tanong mo na NLEX exit, the fastest way is the SCTEX exit. Malapit siya sa Dau Exit up north. The green sign board says "TARLAC CITY, BAGUIO, SUBIC". Take that road. Tapos derederetso na sya (go west that goes to Clark then Subic, not Tarlac), and next exit mo will already be in Subic (TIPO Exit). From Quezon City, Subic is about roughly 2 to 2.5 hours drive.

      * Pwede rin sa San Fernando Exit, but that will already take you longer. National highway dadaanan nun.

Kung family trip, I suggest Zoobic Safari and Ocean Adventure. These two attractions can go hand in hand in 1 day IF early morning nasa Zoobic Safari na kayo. Kasi ZS=3 hours tour, Ocean Odventure last show is 2PM. If gusto ng iba pang pangfamily, pwedeng JEST camp or Tree Top (pwede din bata dun sa ibang rides).

About sa transients, madami sa Olongapo. I had one before, but I already lost the owner's number. Mas mura kasi ang hotels/transients sa Olongapo compared the one inside SBMA. Pag mga budget hotels, you can try looking at Magsaysay St (or near SM Olongapo). Meron din sa Gordon Heights.

*If you want you can use "Search Hotels via Travex Travels" right here on this page. Scroll down lang. :)

      Hope it helps you. :)

  5. You need to hire jeepney or taxi in going there. The ranch is located in a remote place. :)

  6. hi there! i would like to ask, what are places included in the day tour? like all of these tourist spots ba (ocean adventure, zoobic safari, tree top etc.) can be done in just a day? or in a couple of days maybe? and what hotel/condo/any accommodation would you recommend where we could stay amidst these tourist spots? we also have our own car, you think it is more convenient than commuting around the area? thankyou!

    1. Hello,

:: The tourist spots cannot be accommodated in just one day. But if you will be early (like when you arrive in Zoobic Safari by 7 AM), you will be able to combine it with Ocean Adventure. The ideal day tour in Subic can only include two tourist destinations. Unless you want to look haggard after the tour. Two days is okay (I will be posting a sample itinerary soon) but if you prefer jetskiing, hydrojet activities, or yacht then it should be 3 days or more.

:: If you want to enjoy Subic, I recommend Lighthouse Marina Resort (you can book via Travex Travels) it's expensive but worth it. Subic International Hotel naman is at the city proper, and meters away lang sa Hollys, Wimpys etc. restaurants. Pero magaganda mga resorts along Waterfront (facing the bay). I recommend that too. Since you have your own car I suggest book your night stay at resorts or hotels located in Subic/SBMA. Cheaper sa Olongapo but it's far already.

:: I prefer you go with your car because you will still rent a car when you tour Subic. No tricycles nor jeepneys are allowed inside the freeport. Madali lang naman puntahan kasi maraming sign boards leading to the tourist spots. =)

I hoped I helped you in a way or another. =)

    1. With regards sa hotel, hindi ako masyadong familiar. Pero if it's in Olongapo City, you can already hire a van or car to take you to the different tourist spots in Subic Freeport (including Treetop).

Pero I do not advise to swim (pero pwede din siguro).

Meron Camayan pero it's far already.

    1. Yes, you can try ask the locals there. If you cannot find, you can head to Magsaysay, where we met our driver when we had our tour there. Ride a yellow jeep. You can drop off in front of SM City Olongapo.

      =)
