Cemento Beach, Coba Reef an Lukso-Lukso Islets in Baler, Aurora |
There was this old story about two gods who became angry with one another
and so they quarreled on a particular day. One god picked up stones and rocks
and remolded it. After molding the rocks, he threw it to his enemy. The other
god did the same too. But when they threw their rocks to one another, it was
miraculous that they do not even hit them. They were all missed. Thus, the
existence of several hills, a thousand in actual, scattered around the island.
Nope, that wasn’t the story of Cemento Beach, Cobra Reef nor the Lukso-Lukso
Islets.

Exotic Adventure
Cemento Beach |
A goddess was the one to take care of the bay. She gets to visit it every
day and check out if the place is well. This goes on and on and on for
thousands of years. She then realized one time, on a hot noontime, that what
she does is boring. She threw rocks in to the ocean. She threw another one. And
another one. Then another one. The goddess died after a few more years. As time
goes by when finally the planet can now be inhabited by humans, they used to
skip and hop on to these little islands the goddess created when she threw
several rock to the ocean. And thus the name “Lukso-Lukso Islets”.

But don’t believe it, it wasn’t one of the many folklores in Aurora. I
just made it up because I cannot think of anything else as its history. And do
not even dare ask me why it was called Cemento Beach when you cannot see sacks
of Eagle cement in the area. I think the reason why they called it so because
when it is low tide you will get to see the hard rock ocean floor of the bay.
As hard as concrete. And the Lukso-Lukso Islet, hmm, pretty like scattered
islands na palukso-lukso kung titignan.
Rocky beach of Baler |
Our tour guide (which is our trike driver, so it’s two-in-one, sulit na)
told us that when the high tide season is in, the Cemento Beach is actually a
playground to surfers. While walking on the ocean (walking?!), he told more
stories of which most I cannot remember anymore haha. Yes we were walking on
the ocean floor that time to reach the island or islet. In Baler, you can walk
tour from island to island, isn’t that cool?
stopped by one of the Lukso-Lukso Islets and took some opportunity to
take some photos of us on the islet. It was a rocky islet and good for photo
ops. After a few more minutes, we left Cemento Beach and Lukso-Lukso Islets for
our next stop along the road—another falls in Baler.
