A Jump Shot to Subic!

Jump, jump, jump to Subic!

After we visited and passed by the different attractions of Subic like the Boardwalk, eat in Hollys, see the bunkers and bats and monkeys, and finally feed the fish in Camayan, we ended the tour in Royal Duty Free. After we shopped for some pasalubong ala chocolate importado, we explored the other streets and ended up shopping in nearby Puregold Duty Free and the rest are photo ops and jump shots.

Subic Experience: Camayan Fish Feeding in Bigger Aquarium Called Sea

School of fish fed by the waters of Subic Bay in Camayan Beach Resorts.

Camayan or Camayan Beach Resorts is a popular resort in Subic. It is adjacent to the more popular dolphin and sea lion show, the Ocean Adventure. It doesn’t feature white sand beach of any sort but if you want to have a Subic experience that is free, then visiting by the bay and fishing the colorful fish is a good choice.

Bunkers, Monkeys, Fruit Bats and that Orb in Subic

Fruit bats hanging by the tree branches in Subic.

Bunkers are protective embankments or dugouts used in the Second World War. It is canopied with grasses and tree leaves so it cannot be easily seen by the opponents. When you get to tour in Subic, you will be able to witness these Second World War remnants. But other than these, Subic has a vast of tropical forests that until now is the home of many fruit bats and monkeys freely loitering around the woods. And we really saw them during our trip to Subic.

Let’s Rock with The Jeemo: The Party Jeep

The Jeemo: Party Jeep in Baguio

The jeep or the jeepney is the most common means of transportation in the Philippines. It is patterned from the US Army vehicle used in the Second World War and as the decades go over, the jeep was used as mode to transport people from one place to another. Passengers used to say “para” when they are already near their destinations. But I guess if you are the party-ish creature who always loves to sing videoke, dance with flickering colorful lights and be wild all the night, you will never say “para” when you are inside The Jeemo: The Party Jeep.

So What Really Happened in Baguio at 9.5˚ C?

On Friday, January 18, 2013, Baguio was swept away with cold winds at 9.5 C.
Just last Friday, January 18, 2013, it was in the news that the temperature in Baguio already dropped to 9.5˚C. According to PAGASA, it was the coldest recorded temperature in two years time, following the 9.8˚C drop in January 2011. The 9.5˚C temperature was recorded at 5:00 in the morning. The question here, how cold is 9.5˚C for local tourists to flock in the city mountain of Baguio?

The Ship and the Boardwalk in Subic

Ship on the waters of Subic Bay, Philippines
The Boardwalk in Subic is comparable to Roxas Boulevard in Manila only that you don’t get a full view of a sunset because the mountain barriers are half of the view. Along the sea side of Subic are ships and yachts and you don’t really want to leave Subic without a souvenir picture of you with a backdrop of a ship (not a passenger ferry). The floating book store was also there when we went to Subic, and it might just have gone to other Asian countries after the Philippines.

Hollys BBQ Chicken Restaurant Subic: Eat-All-You-Can Style

Not just chicken barbecues, Hollys Restaurant in Subic also offers fruits and organic foods.

If you are looking for a Subic restaurant at the expense of an eat-all-you-can buffet style, then probably you are thinking Hollys BBQ Chicken Restaurant. Hollys Restaurant is located at the corner of Canal Road and Santa Rita and is adjacent to Subic International Hotel. It’s got this sliding door and a feel as if you were actually inside a crew ship or a private plane, because of their waitresses. And their food is great too, I can recommend this restaurant to future tourists of Subic.

Plan Your Subic Tour: The Bay Guide

A boat sailing on the waters of Subic Bay, Philippines.

The Subic Bay Freeport Zone may not be your rugged nature hideout but it’s one of the tourist destinations frequented by travelers because it offers wide range of nature trips with a twist—ride a jeepney with tigers outside (Zoobic Safari), trek a forest with a special number by the indigenous tribe of Aetas (Zoobic Safari), see the sea lion show (Ocean Adventure), watch dolphin exhibition (Ocean Adventure), witness fruit bats and monkeys roaming around (outskirts), zip line, rapel, survival demo show and a lot more. Subic is one of my favorite places ideal for a city tour other than Baguio City. It’s plain nature, resorts and the wonderful landscape of high mountains over the waters of Subic Bay just add to the feel. Subic tour, that is.

The Magic Stays in Enchanted Kingdom, Laguna

Meet the mascot and rest of the magical enchantment of Enchanted Kingdom in Laguna.

The Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna is one of the pioneering theme amusement parks in the Philippines. It boasts off several cool and thrill rides that people will enjoy out of getting away from their day-to-day work. It’s my time’s favorite theme park ever and out of the several exciting and enchanting rides, my top picked nerve-racking adventures were the Rio Grande Rapids (you will really get wet!), the Space Shuttle (loop and the upside down coaster) and one of its latest addition: the EKstreme Tower Experience (get a drop from about 150 feet free fall!). Well, it’s really the most fun park after all…not until Resorts World Bayshore and ABS-CBN finish their “Escape” theme park.

Manila Night Scape: Rizal Park

The Rizal Monument inisde the Rizal Park in Manila.

Rizal Park, also known as Luneta Park or simply Luneta, is one of the major tourist attractions in the city of Manila, aside from the adjacent walled city called Intramuros. It is also facing the Quirino Grandstand and is also near the Manila Ocean Park and the famed sunset of Manila. Historic events like execution of Dr. Jose Rizal and the public executions of the three martyrs Gomburza happened in this place. Moreover, Kilometer Zero is also here. But among the rest, it’s the Rizal Monument that makes this park iconic, aside from the dancing fountain just across of it.
